Visual Fusion Experience (VFX) gives business
users an interactive, world-class window into the
critical data they need to do their jobs more
insightfully and effectively.
Visual Fusion Experience
is a set of rich user interface components available
in Microsoft Silverlight. They can be deployed as SharePoint Web Parts
or as standard web page components. As some 80% of enterprise information can be shown
in the context of geography, VFX uses a map and timeline as the primary metaphors for interacting with,
exploring, and viewing enterprise information.

Feed Control
The Visual Fusion Feed Control is the main interface for the end user to control which data is displayed in the Map and Timeline Viewers. It functions in three distinct modes:
In "Feeds" mode, users can slice and dice the information that is displayed, using filters exposed for each data feed. Other controls empower the end user to refresh individual data feeds without refreshing the entire browser page, adjust feed opacity, access associated documentation on the feed, and more.
In "Details" mode, the Feed Control displays content for an item selected in the Map or Timeline Viewer. Application builders can configure this content in SharePoint or in XML configuration files, using HTML to present content from any number of sources, in any number of ways. Text, images, embedded video, business intelligence widgets, and links to workflow, web sites, or other content are all supported in "Details" mode.
In "Analytics" mode, Feed Control displays the results of a spatial query. The app creator has tremendous flexibility in determining how to display these results.

Ad Hoc Feeds & Search Results
Empowering the end user is a hallmark of Visual Fusion, and one key capability the software affords is adding ad hoc content to the content already present in the application. In the Feed Control input box, users can paste URLs to geospatial web feeds or type in terms to search for through Visual Fusion Enterprise Search, Wikipedia, Flickr, Bing Local Search, or some other search engine. In all cases, the user selects an icon to represent the data returned and the results show up as a new feed at the top of the Feed Control hierarchy. Each of these ad hoc feeds has the normal controls as well as the option to delete them. If the feed has a pubdate or other recognizable date field, it will be displayed in the Timeline Viewer as well as the Map Viewer.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pilot
Pilot is the intuitive navigation control for the Map Viewer. Using the pilot, users can do more than just pan and zoom. Rotating and tilting the map are options as well, giving the user unique control and the ability to view the data on the map in ways that are illuminating and attractive for analysis or reporting. The pilot will also indicate which zoom levels are appropriate for individual data feeds. Additionally, users can enter a place name or address in the pilot input box for a quick zoom to that location.

Spatial Query
Spatial Query is a valuable tool, allowing the user to draw an ad hoc area on the map and return formatted content, business intelligence, or perform other actions for items within that area. Learn More

Point Extrusions
Visual Fusion offers a wide variety of options to choose from in displaying point data. One unique option is to extrude the points as bars or as circles where the size of each is based on an underlying value. The bars in particular are very compelling when presented with the map tilted.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Client-side Clustering
Items in the Map Viewer will often overlap each other, especially at higher zoom levels. On a per-feed basis, site builders can opt for server-side clustering to address this issue and to help increase performance. On the client side, however, Visual Fusion automatically clusters and, when a cluster is clicked, disambiguates for the end user.

Interactive SDK
Built in Silverlight, Visual Fusion Experience (VFX) can be customized or extended through a C# API and other SDK options. An interactive SDK for VFX is available as well.
