The Visual Fusion Timeline Viewer is a ready-to-use component with a rich and unique
set of navigation capabilities.
Timeline Viewer is a Silverlight component that gives end users a smooth, interactive experience in Visual Fusion applications. When coupled with the Map Viewer, Timeline Viewer empowers end users to interact with data in the dual contexts of location and time.
(How does this interaction work? Watch the timeline in action in this "demo in a minute.")
Timeline Viewer can be navigated in a number of ways. Dragging the mouse and using
the scroll wheel directly in the timeline is an efficient way to move through time
and data quickly. Alternatively, handles on the lower time display allow for very
precise movements as well as rapidly increasing or decreasing the amount of time
in the expanded view.
Point, line, and polygon data can all be represented in the timeline, and data on the timeline is coordinated with data on the map, such that a user can hover over an item on one and immediately see its counterpoint in the other. The Timeline Viewer also supports the notion of data ranges as well as specific points in time, representing those distinctly in the visualization.
The Timeline and Map viewers can be configured to filter one another or not. In this way app developers have tremendous control over how the two components interact with each other and the content that appears in both.
